SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said on Sunday that he would rename the company’s artificial intelligence unit SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, following US President Donald Trump’s push to use the term “super intelligence”.
Musk made the comment in response to a user on X who asked whether SpaceXAI would be renamed. “Yes, we will make that change”, he said.
The SpaceXAI account on X had not changed its name at the time of publication. Musk did not provide further details or say when the new name would take effect.
SpaceXAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Trump called for the terminology change in a speech to the UN General Assembly last month, saying US government documents should use “super intelligence” rather than “artificial intelligence”.
Musk’s planned change would align the name of SpaceX’s AI unit with Trump’s preferred terminology.
