Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) has arrested Faridul Talukdar, agriculture affairs secretary of the Tazumuddin Upazila unit of the Awami League in Bhola, during a raid in the capital’s Kafrul area.

He was arrested around 12:30am on Monday, said Ilias Kabir, deputy commissioner of the DB’s Uttara division.

Further legal action against Faridul is under way, he said.

The DB said Faridul is currently the agriculture affairs secretary of the Tazumuddin Upazila Awami League, whose activities have been banned, and a former president of the Tazumuddin Upazila unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League.

He is known to be a “very close associate” of Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shawon, a former Awami League MP from the Bhola-3 constituency.

Arrestee Faridul hails from Hatshashiganj in Tazumuddin Upazila of Bhola. He has been living in a house in SP Para in Kafrul.
