The application deadline for the 2026-27 Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program has been extended, giving experienced Bangladeshi professionals more time to apply for postdoctoral research or teaching stints at US institutions.
Applications are now due by 11:59pm on Saturday, Oct 31, Bangladesh time, the US Embassy in Dhaka said in an announcement.
Selected scholars will receive a six-to-nine-month research or lecturing grant starting in September 2027, spanning an academic semester to a full academic year.
University faculty members, researchers at think-tanks and relevant government and non-government organisations, and other professionals with at least 10 years of experience can apply.
Candidates need excellent English to function professionally in a US university setting. Those who show a clear intent to use the experience to advance US-Bangladesh relations are preferred.
Eligible applicants must be senior faculty members or researchers with a PhD or equivalent professional training or experience, and at least 10 years of professional experience.
They need “excellent publication records, excellent English, an invitation from a US institution and a detailed project statement”.
