Addressing a rally at Chittagong Lal Dighi ground on Monday, he asked the Chittagong-11 lawmaker not to move around in the city and warned him of a possible assault.
The ex-Chittagong mayor said he would take responsibility if the MP died in an attack by ‘any angry youth’.
He also demanded that the Chittagong-11 MP be arrested in 15 days.
A citizen body, Nagorik Mancha, Chittagong organised the rally in protest against the image distortion.

Several speakers call Latif ‘pro-Jamaat-e-Islami’, ‘pro-Pakistani’, ‘black sheep’, ‘hybrid leader’ and ‘upstart politician’.
Distorted Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s image on billboards installed in Chittagong by Latif during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent visit to the port city, drew widespread criticisms, particularly on the social media.
The billboards displayed a photo of the nation’s founding father, but the posture, attire, and shoes do not match those which marked him out in his lifetime.
Four cases have been filed against Latif over the distortion.
