Kolkata, Nov 24 (BDNEWS) – Jamuna Barua, a leading Bengali actress of yesteryears and wife of legendary actor Pramathesh Barua, died at her south Kolkata residence Thursday. She was 86 and is survived by four sons.
Family sources said Jamuna Barua was suffering from spinal cord-related problems for the past few months. Her end came early Thursday.
Jamuna was known for her performance as 'Parvati' in Devdas.
She also acted in noted Bengali films 'Shesh Uttar' (1942) and 'Adhikar' (1938).
Jamuna Barua left the profession after the death of Pramathesh Barua in 1951.
