The estate of rock legend David Bowie has announced a year-long global celebration marking what would have been his 80th birthday, with events, exhibitions, concerts and fashion collaborations spanning from November through 2027.

Bowie, born David Jones in London on Jan 8, 1947, died of cancer on Jan 10, 2016 -- two days after his 69th birthday and the release of his final album, Blackstar, reports Variety.

He remains one of the most influential figures in the history of popular music.

A new live symphonic production, BOWIE (breaking) GLASS, pairing Bowie's original recordings with the music of Philip Glass, will have its world premiere in Copenhagen in spring 2027.

The immersive show David Bowie: You're Not Alone, currently running in London, will travel to Manchester, Brighton and Hamburg.

The Victoria and Albert Museum's touring archive exhibition will visit venues across the UK through 2029.
