Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president Hasanul Haque Inu said: "He contributed a lot to the language movement, liberation war and anti-autocracy movement."
"He also included war crimes trial on the national agenda along with Jahanara Imam. We should hold trial of war criminals to pay our tributes to him," Inu said.
Bangla Academy director general Shamsuzzaman Khan said: "Gaziul Haque will remain as a legend in history for his leading role in the language movement."
Theatre personality Asaduzzaman Nur said: "Gaziul Haque was our guardian, guide and conscience of the nation. We were inspired by following him."
"His memories, ideals, valour and personality will help us proceed forward," Nur said.
Another theatre personality, Aly Zaker, said: "The main thing about Gaziul Haque was his uncompromising attitude. He spoke the truth and behaved well with all."
Actor Inamul Haque said: "He was an inspiration for us in any movement. We have to remember him to protest against any injustice."
