Dhaka, Jan 29 (bdnews24.com) - The body of veteran journalist Waheedul Haque has been donated to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), family sources told bdnews24.com Monday evening.
Haque's body, preserved at the BIRDEM hospital mortuary, was formally handed over to the BSMMU authority Monday evening.
Professor Apala Farhad Nabed, Partho Tanvir Nabed, Dr Ruchira Tabbassum Nabed and Ashon Waheed, all of them children of the reputed late journalist, were present when the body was handed over.
"Haque's body would be used for academic purposes at the medical university," said Rezaul Haque, brother of the deceased.
Waheedul Haque, also a Tagore song exponent, died Saturday evening at the BIRDEM hospital where he was being treated for multi-organ disorders.
He had been suffering from severe pneumonia as well as kidney and heart problems. He was admitted to the hospital on January 5 and shifted to the hospital intensive care unit on January 14 when his health condition deteriorated.
