Trial of Jamuna’s Babul starts in Hunter and Crown case

A Dhaka court has started the trial of Nurul Islam Babul, Jamuna Group owner and three others on charges of illegally brewing and marketing alcoholic beverages.

Babul’s wife Salma Islam MP and son Shamim Islam are also accused in the case.

 

Abdur Rahman Sarder, Judge of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal Court 4, on Tuesday set the next hearing date of the case for January 19.

Mahfuzur Rahman Likhon, Public Prosecutor of the case, told bdnews24.com that the court had rejected an appeal for ‘exemption’ of Babul and his family members.
