In a media statement on Sunday, the court said Chief Justice SK Sinha appointed Islam to the post until further order.

“I got a copy of the appointment order today (Sunday),” Islam told bdnews24.com.

Until now, there was one registrar post for supervising official works of the two Supreme Court divisions.
Justice Sinha had proposed posts of the registrar general, and separate registrars for the High Court Division and Appellate Division for better secretarial support.
Later, a proposal was sent to the law ministry for creating a total of nine posts.
The law ministry nodded the proposal on June 1 after approval from the public administration ministry, finance ministry and the Cabinet Division.
