BNP conspirators will be brought to justice: Joy

Mamun’s son Rizvi Ahmed Ceaser was convicted by a US court for bribing an FBI special agent to collect information on Joy.

Detective Police Inspector Fazlur Rahman filed the case with the Paltan police on Monday night.

“The case accuses Mamun of plotting the abduction and murder of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son and ICT advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy,” Paltan police station OC Morshed Alam told bdnews24.com.

Connecticut resident Mamun is the vice-president of the BNP’s cultural wing JaSaS and a former vice-president of the party’s US chapter.

Joy lives in Virginia with his family.

On Mar 4, a New York court sentenced Mamun’s son Ceaser to three and a half years in prison after finding him guilty of bribing FBI agents to gather information on Joy.

The matter prompted discussions in Bangladesh Parliament. Ruling Awami League MPs alleged that the BNP leadership was involved in a conspiracy to ‘kidnap’ Sheikh Hasina’s son Joy.

Joy, also the ICT advisor to the prime minister, accused BNP leaders of conspiring to ‘abduct and kill him’ in a Facebook post on Mar 9 this year.

The Awami League chief’s son said he provided the victim statement in court on Mar 4, before Ceaser was sentenced to prison
