Dhaka, June 15 (BDNEWS) – Awami League lawmaker from Habiganj-2 Constituency and elderly politician Nazmul Hasan Zahed Wednesday said he would never change his party.
"I was born in Awami League and I will die as a member of this party. Awami League is in my blood. So, the question of changing the party does not arise. Moreover, at this old age, why I will change party?" Zahed told BDNEWS Wednesday.
Zahed joined the Parliament session for a brief period Tuesday during the recess for Magreb prayer.
He signed the signature registrar and shook hands with Finance Minister M Saifur Rahman and LGRD Minister and BNP secretary general Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan. Zahed's sudden presence in the house sparked off a rumour that he is going to join BNP.
His presence in the House evoked rumours in and outside Parliament.
Meanwhile, Zahed met leader of the opposition and AL president Sheikh Hasina at her Shudha Sadan residence Wednesday noon.
"The leader of the opposition gives me a lot of honour. Besides, she said that not a single seat could be vacated. If it is necessary to sign the registrar for maintaining membership, it can be done any time."
He said he will visit Europe as an entourage member of Sheikh Hasina on June 18.
He was in London while other party MPs had last joined the session.
