Eleven receive Bangla Academy Literary Award

Eleven personalities have received Bangla Academy Literary Award for 2015.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the award on Monday in recognition of their contributions to their respective fields.

 

The recipients are Altaf Hossain (poetry), Shaheen Akhtar (fiction), Abul Momen and Dr Atiur Rahman (essay), Moniruzzaman (research), Abdus Selim (translation), Tajul Mohammad (literature on Liberation War), Faruk Chowdhury (biography and travelogue), Masum Reza (drama), Sharif Khan (science, technology and environment) and Sujan Barua (juvenile literature).

 

The prime minister gave away the award at the inaugural ceremony of the month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair on the Bangla Academy premises.

 

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and Bangla Academy Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan, among others, also spoke at the inaugural function, chaired by Bangla Academy Chairman Dr Anisuzzaman.
