Bangladesh has recorded five more dengue deaths in a 24-hour count.
Another 1,872 patients were hospitalised during the period, marking the highest number of daily admissions recorded so far this year, health authorities said on Tuesday.
The latest deaths have taken the dengue toll to 195 this year, while the number of hospitalised patients rose to 65,499, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Hospitals in Dhaka North City Corporation admitted 159 new patients, while those in Dhaka South received 191. Elsewhere in Dhaka Division, 391 patients were hospitalised.
Among other divisions, 190 patients were admitted in Barishal, 285 in Chattogram, 316 in Khulna, 105 in Mymensingh, 162 in Rajshahi, 67 in Rangpur and six in Sylhet.
Health authorities have tracked dengue admissions and deaths in Bangladesh since 2000, with 2023 recording the highest hospitalisations at 321,179 and 1,705 deaths.
More than 400 people died from dengue last year, while around 102,000 cases were recorded.
