Accordingly, Eid-e-Miladunnabi will be observed on Dec 13.
Religious Affairs Joint Secretary Mohammad Zakir Ahmed announced the decision after a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Islamic Foundation Wednesday evening.
Muslims across the world observe the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad, as Eid-e-Miladunnabi. The Prophet died on the same day as that of his birth at the age of 63.
The day is a public holiday in Muslim-majority Bangladesh.
