Akram alleges of attempts to seize poll centres

Independent candidate S M Akram has alleged rigging and take-over of polling centres by supporters of Jatiya Party candidate Selim Osman.

”My agents have been thrown out from 3 to 4 polling centres. There are also attempts to occupy these centres," he told journalists on Thursday afternoon.

He said he could never accept results so unfairly conducted.

”My agents have been thrown out from the polling stations all over.”

The late MP Nasim Osman’s brother Selim Osman is contesting as the Jatiya Party candidate from the constituency.

Akram had earlier expressed his scepticism about a free and fair poll in Narayanganj, alleging that the influential Osman family were planning to take control of polling stations and rig the polls.

Krishak-Shramik Janata League aspirant Shafiqul Islam Delwar and independent candidate Mamun Sirajul Majid are also in the fray.
