Bangladesh began their SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship campaign in commanding fashion, routing Bhutan 12-0 with three players bagging hat-tricks in Pokhara.

Munki Akter led the scoring, supported by Trishna Rani and Alpi Akter, while Mamoni Chakma and Arpita Biswas also found the net.

The match began at a relentless pace, with Bangladesh dominating Bhutan’s half from the first whistle. Early attacks lacked cutting edge, but the home side grew increasingly desperate for goals.

In the 25th minute, Alpi’s shot was blocked by a defender and cleared for a corner. From the resulting set-piece, Mamoni delivered a stunning curling strike to open the scoring.

By the 43rd minute, Suravi Akand Preeti’s diagonal cross found Trishna, who slotted the ball into an unguarded post to double the lead.

Immediately after, Puja Das flicked a cross to Munki, who extended the advantage further.

In first-half stoppage time, Munki added another, controlling a cross in the box and curling a left-footed finish to make it 4-0 at halftime.

Bangladesh continued to dominate after the break.

In the 54th minute, Trishna curled a right-footed strike into the net, completing her hat-trick just six minutes later after capitalising on the Bhutanese goalkeeper’s poor clearance.

The 70th minute saw goalkeeper Iarjan Begum sprint out to clear Bhutan’s attack.

Two minutes later, a failed clearance set up Alpi to score from the left, and in the 80th minute, Munki completed her fourth goal with a solo effort past the keeper.

Six minutes later, Alpi netted her second of the half with a right-footed finish from a through pass by Zainab Bibi Rita, completing her hat-trick by stoppage time.

Bangladesh will face India in their second round-robin match.
