Dhaka, Dec 14 (bdnews24.com) - Bangladesh finished seventh among 10 nations in Asian Games hockey Thursday, beating Chinese Taipei 5-1 in Doha Thursday.
It is a slight improvement on the part of Bangladesh hockey, as the team became eighth in the last Asian Games in Busan, Korea.
In Doha, Bangladesh beat Oman 5-3, but were beaten by India 6-1, Korea 9-1 and China 4-1 in pool matches to set the first of the place-deciding clashes with Malaysia.
Bangladesh lost to Malaysia 6-1.
At Al Rayyan Hockey Field, Bangladesh took a comfortable 3-0 lead in the first half with Rasel Mahmud Jimmy striking one in the third minute and Mamunur Rahman Chayan converting penalty corners in 31st and 38th minute.
Taipei came to pull one back converting a penalty corner eight minutes into the second half.
Zahidul Islam Rajan, who suffered a minor injury after being assaulted by Oman players, made Bangladesh 4-1 in the 66th minute with a field goal while Jimmy raised the margin with his second goal in the next minute.
