Bangabandhu Matsyajibi Parishad President Nasir Uddin Ahmed Ferdous has been arrested in Dhaka.

The arrest took place on Thursday night in Dhanmondi, confirmed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Media and Public Relations Division in a statement issued on Friday.

Police said Nasir was detained in connection with a case tied to the attack on the Anti-discrimination Student Movement during a peaceful demonstration.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on Jul 19 at Meradia Bazaar in Khilgaon. Ahadul Islam, a participant in the protest, sustained injuries when activists of the Awami League and its affiliate groups allegedly opened fire indiscriminately on the demonstrators.

Ahadul was initially rushed to Famous Specialised Hospital for treatment but was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital when his condition deteriorated.

On Oct 17, Ahadul’s father, Md Baker, filed a case at Khilgaon Police Station over the attack.

Nasir was arrested after analysing CCTV footage and using technological assistance, say police.
