Measles has claimed five more lives in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, taking the total death toll past 1,050.
Of the latest deaths, one was a confirmed measles case, while the other four died with measles-like symptoms, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its Saturday bulletin.
Two deaths each were reported from Dhaka and Sylhet divisions in the 24 hours up to 8am Saturday.
The health directorate has been publishing measles data since Mar 15.
According to government figures, 101 people have died of confirmed measles, alongside 952 deaths involving measles-like symptoms, taking the combined toll to 1,053 in about six months.
Dhaka Division has recorded the highest number of deaths with measles-like symptoms at 428, followed by Sylhet with 167.
Rajshahi Division reported 93 deaths, Mymensingh 77, Chattogram 74, Barishal 59, Khulna 40 and Rangpur 14.
The DGHS said 941 more people with measles-like symptoms sought hospital treatment over the past 24 hours, of whom 838 were admitted.
Of these, 249 were admitted in Dhaka Division, 224 in Chattogram, 146 in Sylhet, 108 in Barishal, 42 in Khulna, 52 in Mymensingh, 16 in Rajshahi and one in Rangpur.
Total hospital admissions nationwide have now reached 157,556, of whom 151,395 have been discharged.
The number of suspected measles cases in the country stands at 178,666, while confirmed cases total 20,474.
Not all patients, whether hospitalised or not, are tested for measles, meaning the exact number of confirmed cases remains unclear.
