Bangladesh has recorded 12 more child deaths linked to measles symptoms over the past 24 hours, pushing the nationwide death toll to 451.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its regular measles bulletin on Friday that four of the latest fatalities are confirmed measles cases, while the remaining eight children passed away with symptoms of the disease.

It stated that 74 people have died from confirmed measles nationwide since Mar 15, alongside 377 others who died with suspected symptoms.

Dhaka has logged the highest number of deaths with measles-like symptoms at 150, followed by the Rajshahi Division with 78 fatalities.

The DGHS reported 111 new confirmed measles cases over the last 24 hours.

During this period, 1,192 patients arrived at hospitals with symptoms, leading to the admission of 1,016 people.

Hospitals in Dhaka saw the highest number of admissions with symptoms over the 24-hour period at 422, while Rangpur recorded the lowest with seven patients.

The total number of suspected measles patients since mid-March has reached 55,611, with 7,421 of these cases being confirmed by lab tests
