Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis have ended their relationship, with Zilis saying the split came without warning and left her heartbroken.
Zilis, a Neuralink executive who shares four children with the billionaire, broke her silence on Friday in a candid note posted online, reports NDTV.
She said “going from being in love to letting go in a single week was painful, but accepted that things sometimes unfold that way”.
The split surfaced after Musk unfollowed Zilis on X, the platform he owns. She later shared a screenshot of a recent exchange in which both said they loved each other as recently as Sept 24.
Days later, Musk texted her that he had not realised he could have brought her to the White House state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In the note, Zilis described Musk as a “tortured soul” with a difficult early life, saying she and their children had given him a place to rest and recover before returning to work.
She said she loved him deeply and that he had enriched her life enormously, but conceded the split had brought “a lot of loss”.
“I am hurting, but care deeply about E and will always be cheering for his happiness,” she wrote, signing off with “Godspeed, Elon.”
Zilis and Musk, who began their relationship in 2020, have twins Strider and Azure, born in 2021, a daughter, Arcadia, born in 2024, and their youngest, Seldon, born in 2025.
Musk is father to at least 14 children with four partners. He has five children with his first wife Justine Wilson, including twins and triplets, according to the Indian broadcaster.
The couple's first child, Nevada Alexander, died at 10 weeks old. Musk has not commented on the split.
