The teams will play three ODIs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, the Afghanistan Cricket Board confirmed on Sunday.

The 50-over matches, scheduled for Sep 25, 27 and 30, will be the first time Bangladesh will have played their first ODIs since November, 2015.

Also, the Tigers are yet to play an international match since the World Twenty20 in March earlier this year.

"This will be the first series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. We are looking forward for an entertaining cricket to the cricket lovers of Bangladesh," the ACB website quote the board Chairman Nasimullah Danish as saying.

The series against Afghanistan will provide Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and his men with a chance to polish their skills before England tour.

The England ODI squad is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on Sep 30 for a five-week tour. Bangladesh will play the first ODI against Eoin Morgan and his men on Oct 7.

The ACB had earlier announced that the team may visit Bangladesh after the Eid holidays.

Bangladesh have played two ODIs against Afghanistan - losing the first by 32 runs in the 2014 Asia Cup before winning the next in the World Cup last year.
