The government has decided to sell onions at Tk 35 per kg under the family card programme through the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh or TCB in Dhaka amid the price of the kitchen staple skyrocketing.
The family cardholders will be able to purchase onions with TCB’s regular products at subsidised rate, a TCB press release said on Sunday.
One family under the programme can buy a package of 5 kg of rice at Tk 30 per kg, 2 liters of edible oil at Tk 100 per liter and 2 kg of lentils at Tk 60 per kg.
Now they will also get 2 kg of onions.
