The victims have been identified as 49-year-old Rejia Khatun and her daughter Saima Akter, 17.
Saima was appearing in the ongoing SSC examination from the Agrabad CDA Girls’ School.
Her father is C&F businessman Rejaul Karim.
Sub-Inspector Zahirul Islam of the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital police outpost said the mother and daughter were covered in blood when brought to the hospital.
The doctors there declared them dead on arrival.
Both had slashing marks on their bodies, he said.
Saima’s elder brother Sayed Reja said one ‘Raihan’ had been harassing his sister for the past several days.
He suspected Raihan was behind the killing.
Reja said his mother and sister were at home when he left around 9am on Monday morning.
Saima had a practical test on Tuesday. One of her female friends was expected to come discuss their preparations.
“I had called my mother’s number an hour later but it went unanswered. Later, Saima’s friend picked up the call, telling me that my mother and sister were in a bloodied state.
“My mother was still alive when Saima’s friend left. Before she died, she had said that Raihan was behind the incident,” Reja told bdnews24.com.
He said he had a heated altercation with him several days ago when he protested his sister's harassment.
