The BIIWTA’s Transport Inspector Humayun Kabir told bdnews24.com the suspension came into force from 7:30pm on Saturday after a nor'wester storm blew over Dhaka.
The water vessels that had already left Sadarghat have been told to anchor in safe places.
After the weather improved, launches more than 65-foot long began to run on the routes around 8:20pm, he added.
All river ports have been asked to hoist danger signal no. 2 as the threat of the seasonal storm loomed, said Met office weatherman Ruhul Kuddus.
