Dhaka, Apr 6 (bdnews24.com) – Bangladesh Jatiya Party chairman Naziur Rahman Manzur died of acute renal failure at BIRDEM hospital Sunday, a doctor said. He was 59.
BIRDEM doctor Dr Fahmima Haque told bdnews24.com that Manzur died at 4:45 am at BIRDEM hospital.
He was suffering from a number of critical diseases including liver cirrhosis, diabetes and kidney problems, Haque said.
The chairman of a faction of Jatiya Party, Manzur was transferred to BIRDEM hospital from the United Hospital's Intensive Care Unit at 11:30 am Saturday, she added.
The namaz-e-janaza of the late JP leader would be held at the south plaza at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban after Zohr prayers Sunday, his family said.
He served as a minister during the Jatiya Party regime in the 1980s. He was also mayor of Dhaka City Corporation.
Manzur was born in Bhola on March 15, 1948. He is survived by his wife and three sons.
On hearing the news of his death, leaders of different political parties thronged his residence 'Reba Villa'.
