The public administration ministry in an order deputised him at CAAB on Sunday.
Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operation and Training) Hassan is a former commander of Air Force Base Bashar.
He is also a member of the Senate of Bangladesh University of Professionals.
Hassan, a Director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, has replaced Air Vice Marshal Ehsanul Gani Choudhury, who has been sent back to the Air Force.
The government removed Choudhury's predecessor at CAAB, Air Vice Marshal M Sanaul Huq, amid criticism in March last year after the UK banned all direct cargo flights from Dhaka on 'security grounds'.
