Police Superintendent Alamgir Kabir said BGB fired ‘blank shots’ when the rivals clashed during counting of votes at Bahadurpur Government Primary School centre in Mathurapur Union Parishad on Saturday evening.
Emdadul Hossain, 50, was shot dead on the spot, he said, adding that he was not sure whether Hossain died in the BGB firing.
Witnesses said BGB opened fire when the clashing rivals pelted brickbats at them.
