Dhaka, March 28 (BDNEWS) – Former chief advisor of a caretaker government Justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman Monday said some leftists could hold lucrative posts including that of the prime ministers though they could not change the imperialistic world order. It benefited some individuals, not the nation.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the publication ceremony of "Shatabdi Periye", autobiography of Haider Akbar Khan Rono, at the Jatiya Press club.
Veteran journalists Kamal Lohani, advisor of the daily Amar Desh Ataus Samad, editor of Prathom Alo Motiur Rahman, president of Worker's Party Rashed Khan Menon, president of the Communist Party of Bangladesh Manjurul Ahsan Khan, poet Asad Chowdhury, economist Prof Anu Muhammad, publisher Mahbub Alam and the author Haider Akbar Khan Rono were present among others.
Justice Habibur Rahman said all the movements are to some extent dependent on others and added that our democratic movements also look forward to the west especially to the US and the UK, just as the leftists used to look at their foreign idols. He said the leftist movement faced crises due to its dependence on foreign countries.
Ataus Samad said this book discussed about different politicians including Sheikh Mujib and Maulana Bhasani paying them due respect.
Motiur Rahman said this will be a textbook for the politicians and the leftists of both pro-Russian and pro-China camps and it will help a lot other readers as well.
