The vacation bench of Justice Farid Ahmed and Justice Mohammad Ullah on Thursday rejected the petition as ‘not pressed’.

A judicial court had earlier rejected his bail plea on Apr 29.

On Thursday, Additional Attorney General Murad Reza appeared for the state, while Syed Al Asafur Ali was the defence counsel.

Police filed a case against the 24-year-old under the anti-terrorism act after arresting him from Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station on Sep 28 last year.

Reza said the chargesheet in the case had been filed against three people on July 4 and was formally accepted on July 22.

“The defence filed a supplementary petition on July 14 without giving this information.”

He said there was no scope for filing a bail petition against a previous order after the submission of chargesheet.

He said the judicial court had set Aug 3 as the date of the next hearing.

Detective Branch of police arrested Asif Adnan, 26, and Md Fazle Elahi Tanzil, 24, for their alleged ties with the banned outfit, Ansarullah Bangla Team.

Police filed a case against them after their arrest last September.

Information provided by Adnan led to Hamdan’s arrest.

The chargesheet said Hamdan had stayed at the ‘Mejban’ hotel in Dhaka’s Gulshan, as was evident from the hotel’s register entries made between Aug 27 and Sep 6 in the name of ‘Ara Hamdan’.

It said he took part in a jihad in Syria from September to December in 2013 as a member of the Nusra Brigade.

Hamdan came to Bangladesh from Turkey in February last year allegedly to meet Adnan and others to recruit members for the IS and Nusra Brigade.
