The foreign ministry said the career diplomat is currently serving as Ambassador to Thailand.
He served in Bangladesh missions in New York, Kolkata, Geneva and Beijing in different capacities, apart from his stint in Thailand.
He studied accounting at Dhaka University and had his diploma in International Relations and Diplomacy from International Institutes of Public Administration, Paris.
He is a member of the 1986 batch of BCS Foreign Affairs Cadre.
Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Chowdhury has been the High Commissioner to Australia since 2008, when military-backed caretaker government appointed him.
