The High Court has been moved for an order to ensure safety, compensation and freedom of movement of Santals at Gaibandha’s Gobindganj.

A writ petition filed on Wednesday sought a rule questioning the authorisation of lethal force during the eviction of the indigenous people from a disputed land of sugar mill in Rangpur.
The writ’s plaintiffs are Ain O Salish Kendra, Association for Land Development (ALRD), Broti Samaj Kalyan Sangstha.
“The writ petition has pleaded for a rule that will ask why the attack, loss of life and eviction of Santals should not be declared illegal,” the lawyer told bdnews24.com.
