Another Bangladesh national among nine taken hostage by ISIS in Libya
“We don’t know where the Bangladeshis have been kept or how they are doing,” Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said Thursday in reply to a question.
“No militant group has claimed responsibility for the incident,” he added.
According to media reports, the IS attacked Libya’s Al-Ghani oilfield in Sirte on Mar 9 and killed 11 guards.
They took nine people hostage including two Bangladeshis and others from the Czech Republic, Austria and the Philippines.
The abduction came to light after the security forces recaptured the oilfield.
Ali said foreign ministers of Austria and the Philippines had visited the spot and Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Libya Shahidul Islam had met them.
