The US Embassy in Dhaka has warned US citizens that peaceful gatherings could “turn into violence” ahead of the parliamentary election.

The embassy issued a security alert for the entire country on Monday.

The Election Commission has scheduled the general election and referendum for Feb 12, 2026.

The statement issued by the embassy also said frequent and intense political rallies and protests could take place in the run-up to polling day.

The embassy urged US citizens to exercise caution and advised them to remain aware of their surroundings, follow local media updates, and avoid crowded areas and protests.
