Dhaka, Apr 30 (bdnews24.com) – Foreign minister Dipu Moni has received Mother Teresa international award for her contribution towards social and administrative work.
The president of the award committee Anthony Omlan Biswas hander over the prestigious award to her Sunday evening at a hotel in Kolkata, says a media statement of the foreign ministry.
The foreign minister said prime ministers Sheikh Hasina and Manmohan Singh are trying to strengthen the relationship that started in 1971 by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Indira Gandhi.
She also thanked the award committee for deciding to give 'Mother Teresa Ratna' posthumous award to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The programme was attended by West Bengal governor Shaymol Sen, Bangladesh high commissioner to India Tariq A Karim, deputy high commissioner to Kolkata Abida Islam and other dignitaries.
The minister is scheduled to back to Dhaka on May 1.
