He is the brother of Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, who was executed on war crimes charges in 2015.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate ASM Shahidullah Kaisar passed the order in response to a petition filed by Fatikchhari Upazila Awami League General Secretary Nazim Uddin Muhuri on Thursday.

A case has been filed against Giasuddin for threatening to kill the prime minister and giving provocative speeches which were covered in the media, the plaintiff’s lawyer, Samir Dasgupta, told bdnews24.com.

“The court accepted the case and issued an arrest warrant against him.”

Meanwhile, former BCL leader Nurul Azim Rony has filed another case with the court of Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Al Imran Khan against Giasuddin.

Rony's lawyer Sheikh Iftekhar Saiful Chowdhury told bdnews24.com that the case has been filed in connection with the “conspiracy against the state”.

“The court has ordered the OC of Panchlaish Police Station to take all necessary steps to record the case.”

On Tuesday, the BNP leader at an event in Chattogram said the prime minister's fate would be worse than that of her father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. A day later, a case was filed.

Then on Wednesday evening, the home of BNP leader at Goods Hill in Chattogram has come under attack.

People employed for the maintenance of the house said 50 to 60 people launched the attacks.
