What is on PM Tarique’s Eid day schedule?

He is set to offer Eid prayers at the National Eidgah, exchange greetings with diplomats and citizens at Jamuna, and later visit the graves of his parents

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will exchange greetings with diplomats and people from different walks of life at the State Guest House Jamuna on Eid day.

His Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon said the programme will begin at 10am on Eid day, which could fall on either Friday or Saturday, subject to the sighting of the moon.

He added that the prime minister would first offer Eid prayers at the National Eidgah before heading to Jamuna.

“There, he will exchange greetings with diplomats."

Tarique will later exchange Eid greetings with cabinet members, MPs, distinguished citizens, academics, Islamic scholars, artists, writers, senior government and private officials, and people from all walks of life.

Afterwards, the prime minister will visit the graves of his parents, former president Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia, at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with members of his family. He will then head back to his Gulshan residence.

This will be Tarique's first Eid in Bangladesh in more than one and a half decades.

He spent 17 years celebrating Eid in London before returning to the country with his family on Dec 25 last year.

Tarique took office as prime minister after the BNP's landslide win in the Feb 12 election.
