The wife, brother-in-law and girlfriend of the key suspect in the murder of Inqilab Moncho Convenor Sharif Osman bin Hadi have given statements.

The statements came days after the key suspect Faisal Karim Masud’s parents “confessed” to aiding their son in the crime.

Two metropolitan magistrates recorded their statements until Wednesday midnight before sending them to jail.

The trio of suspects in the murder case was taken into custody by police in two phases for quizzing. They are Faisa’s wife Shaheda Parveen Samia, his brother-in-law Wahid Ahmed Shipu, and a close friend, Maria Akter Lima.

They were presented before the court after their second phase of questioning, which lasted four days, ended on Wednesday.

The suspects agreed to record their statements during the questioning. Detective Police Inspector, also the investigation office in the murder case, applied to the court to record their statements.

Hadi was shot in the head while he was going to participate in his election campaign on Dec 12. Hadi has announced his potential candidacy in the upcoming parliamentary polls scheduled for Feb 12.

The Inqilab Moncho leader, travelling in a rickshaw, was attacked from a moving motorcycle. Hadi passed away in Singapore on Dec 18.

The case that was initially filed as an attempt-to-murder case was eventually converted into a murder case after Haid’s death.

Police have arrested 10 people in connection with the murder. The main accused, however, is still on the run.
