A man has been stabbed to death in Dhaka’s Kamrangirchar.

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Rocky, an employee at a local grocer.

The incident occurred in front of the Boro Gram Bazar Ashrafabad High School around 3:30am on Tuesday.

Locals rescued Rocky and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead, said Inspector Md Faruk, chief of the hospital’s police outpost.

“There were stab wounds on both his thighs,” he said. “The dead body has been kept in the morgue for a post-mortem.”

Rocky hailed from Madaripur’s Sadar Upazila and lived in the Borogram area of Kamrangirchar’s Chairman Bari.

Rana, a pedestrian who took Rocky to the hospital, said that he brought him to the facility after finding him bleeding in the street. He says he did not see the attack and could not identify the attacker or attackers.

Amirul Islam, chief of Kamrangirchar Police Station, said: “We have learnt that the man had taken drugs. We have received information that he was with a friend at the time of the incident. His friend has been absconding since the incident. We are investigating the matter.”
