A man has died after suffering severe burns in an explosion caused by a suspected air-conditioner gas leak at a house in Old Dhaka's Narinda.

Mohammad Selim, 33, passed away around 9:45pm on Friday while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, according Shawon Bin Rahman, the facility's resident surgeon.

He had suffered burns to 100 percent of his body, said Dr Shawon.

The explosion occurred around 1am on Saturday. Selim’s father Moktar Bepari, 55, and mother Selina Akter, 45, were also injured and taken to the national burn institute.

Moktar had 22 percent of his body burnt and Selina 20 percent.

Both remain in critical condition, Dr Shawon said.
