The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) says the Bangladesh Army has recovered arms and ammunition during a raid on a hideout of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) in Rangamati’s Baghaichari Upazila.
In a bulletin issued on Tuesday morning, the agency said: “The Army launched a drive and exchanged gunfire at a UPDF hideout in the remote hills of Baghaichhari in Rangamati. AK-47 rifles, firearms, and ammunition have been recovered.”
The statement, released at 9:45am, stated that the operation was still ongoing at the time.
The Baghaichari area falls under the Upazila’s Sajek Union.
However, UPDF spokesperson Angya Marma denied that such an operation was underway, saying: “This is a staged drama”.
