The runway of Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka will be closed for three and a half hours per night for a week in November due to maintenance work.
In a message on Monday, the airport's Executive Director Group Captain Md Kamrul Islam said the runway will be shut down from 1:00am to 4:30am daily from Nov 8 to 14.
The note read, “Runway maintenance is one of the routine tasks of flight operations at the airport. As part of this, runway and flight operations will be temporarily suspended from 1:00am to 4:30am, between Nov 8 to 14, for lighting system maintenance.
"NOTAM (a notice to Airmen), has been issued to notify all relevant airlines and agencies. During the repair period, all flight landings and take-offs will be halted, potentially impacting the flight schedule."
The airport authorities have coordinated with all airlines and stakeholders to ensure necessary arrangements are in place. Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines or the airport hotline (13600) to confirm their travel details.
Previously, the runway was also suspended daily for maintenance work related to the Instrument Landing System, or ILS, Category-2 from Oct 1 to 14.
