Two children have died and their mothers suffered injuries after a CNG-run autorickshaw rammed into the back of a truck in Dinajpur's Ghoraghat Upazila.
The accident occurred near Konabari Bazar of the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj Highway during the early hours of Thursday, according to Ghoraghat Police chief Sahidul Islam.
The dead, both identified by their single names, are Abdullah, 4, from Panchbibi Upazila in Joypurhat, and Arifa, 4, from Hakimpur Upazila in Dinajpur.
Their mothers, Farida Begum, 25, and Dulali Begum, 20, sustained injuries in the crash and are currently admitted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.
The autorickshaw was carrying passengers from Gobindaganj to Bhaduria in Ghoraghat when it ploughed into the back of a truck near Konabari Bazar and overturned, officer Sahidul said.
Locals pulled the injured from the wreckage and rushed them to Ghoraghat Upazila Health Complex, where doctors pronounced both children dead.
