A court has shown former Jhalakathi-1 MP Shahjahan Omar, ex-IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, and former DMP commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia arrested in the murder case of garments worker Rubel filed with the Adabor Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam issued the order on Wednesday.
Public Prosecutor Omar Faruq Faruqi of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court confirmed the information.
The suspects were brought to the court from jail. Police detectives then pleaded to show them arrested in a new case. Following a hearing, the court granted the petition.
According to the case documents, Rubel was among hundreds of people who took part in a procession on Adabor’s Ring Road on Aug 5 amid the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
It alleges that police and leaders and activists of the Awami League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Swechchhashebok League, Sramik League, Tanti League, Krishak League and Matsyajibi League opened fire on them. Rubel was shot and killed in the gunfire.
His father Rafiqul Islam filed a case with the Adabor Police Station on Aug 22.
