The Criminal Investigation Department of police has arrested another associate of former Dhaka South City mayor Fazle Noor Taposh in connection with a murder during last year’s July–August movement.
The CID said on Tuesday that officers detained 53-year-old Mostafizur Rahman Tutu at Dhaka’s Badda just past midnight on Monday.
He is a suspect in a case filed at Dhanmondi Police Station in September 2024, now under CID investigation.
“The case was registered at Dhanmondi Police Station on a court order after coordinator Faiyaz Ahmed Ratul filed a written complaint,” the statement said.
It added that during the protests, a man named Abdullah Siddiq was shot dead in Dhanmondi, and Awami League-linked assailants later tried to dispose of the body.
CID had earlier arrested two other Taposh aides, SM Kamal Haider on May 15 and Khorshed Alam on Jun 17.
Tutu was produced before court on Tuesday and placed on a seven-day remand for interrogation, CID said.
