A West Bengal-based human rights body has levelled a serious allegation of “threats and torture’ upon a rights activist by Indian border guard.

Banglar Manabadhikar Suraksha Mancha (MASUM), in a complaint to National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), alleged that Border Security Force (BSF) personnel along with state police have been threatening and torturing a human rights defender attached to it.
MASUM had lodge a written complaint regarding sequel of intimidation by Border Security Force personnel and the police personnel of Swarupnagar Police Station upon the victim Yunus Molla of North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
But, it said, no action had been taken against the erring security personnel forcing it to move the NHRC.
The BSF had been reportedly targeting Molla for over a year now for highlighting its highhandedness in Indo- Bangladesh border as a volunteer of the MASUM.
The border force had even physically tortured and threatened victim’s son Karim Molla, it alleged.
