US agrees to suspend Iran oil sanctions during negotiations: Tasnim

The United States has agreed to suspend sanctions on Iranian oil during negotiations with Tehran, the Tasnim news agency reported citing a source close to the Iranian negotiating team.

According to the source, unlike its previous proposals, the US has accepted in its new offer to waive oil sanctions against Iran for the duration of the talks.

The source was quoted as saying waiving sanctions means the temporary relinquishment of restrictions during the negotiation period.

On Monday, the report said Iran, for its part, insists on the lifting of all sanctions as part of any agreement.

The source also said the United States is only ready to waive sanctions imposed by the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) until a final understanding is reached.
