Dhaka, Sept 10 (bdnews24.com) – Channel-2, an advertising firm, is set to make its debut in this season's curtain-raiser Corporate Cricket League as Bangla Cat withdrew its name from the 12-team meet.
"Channel-2 is going to replace Bangla Cat, that insisted national cricketers to star the team. But the national cricketers will be busy in ICC Champions Trophy in India at that time," said tournament committee coordinator Ali Hossain Sunday.
The ICC Champions Trophy will be held during October-November and the Corporate Cricket League will begin from October 1.
After the meeting with Bangla Cat representatives, Hossan said they wanted national players in their side to get mileage, but it was not possible as the cricketers would be busy in the national duty.
He added that Bangla Cat would be replaced by Channel-2 if it could not budge from its position in Monday's meeting between the tournament committee and participating teams.
The tournament committee will decide on the format, venues and fixture of the tournament in Monday's meeting.
Earlier, holders Beximco group, runners-up Epyllion, Acme, Partex, Ispahani, Biman Bangladesh, Asia Pacific Global Hotel, Sypen Fan Ltd, StarTell Ltd, Raju Feeds Agriculture Ltd and Chittagong Port Authority confirmed their participation in the fourth edition of the tourney.
