Having already confirmed their spots in the semifinals, the two teams battled for the top position in the group position at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday.

A confident Golam Rabbani Chhoton’s side had a flying start when winger Sanjida Akter gave the fans a cause for celebration in the 30th second after kickoff.

She tapped the ball home after the Kyrgyz goalkeeper Tolonova Aichurek failed to hold on to forward Krishna Rani Sarkar’s cross.

After missing a number of chances in the first half, Bangladesh doubled their lead in the 59th minute with a similar goal.

Aichurek made a mess of Sanjida’s cross before Krishna’s header went in this time.

Akmatkulova Zairina brought Kyrgyzstan back to the match 10 minutes later.

Bangladesh had chances to extend the lead afterwards but could not change the scoreline.
